The Pandemic and the Uprising ✊🏾

Is it no surprise that we are battling ourselves? In the face of this pandemic, we have decided to be different. We have decided to revolt!

When faced with an actual crisis, how do you react? Do you fight, flee, or freeze. Even those with anxiety are not feeling anxious. They have been preparing for the worst. Those who did not expect a worldly crisis are dumbfounded as how to survive.

There is the reality of moving forward. How will I make money or have food for my children? How will I adapt to wearing a mask and consciously be aware of germs. Did I remember to wash my hands. I want to hang out with family and friends. I am feeling so alone.

As we are glued to our screens, bound by Covid-19, we begin the awakening. We have become closer to ourselves without the distractions and anxieties of work and noise. Now we can attest to our needs. Again some of our needs are more basic – food, shelter, medications, safety. If you do not have to worry about these concerns, consider yourself lucky.

We see injustice. We heed to the call. No longer bound by our previous concerns, we the people call to a greater sense of purpose. We are watching out for our brothers and sisters. We desire hope. This responsibility is in our own hands and it is up to every one of us to uphold this sense of morality. We can no longer see our kin bleed.

Recognizing this friction within us is the first step. Some of us are the ones being brutalized. Some of us are being marginalized. And some have never seen such violence. The call is for all that have a soul to merge as one.

May you find purpose and unchain us from the ideas of the past. From chaos, disease, and destruction, comes freedom. Let’s move forward towards a new world.
